AMERICAN CORN
Before the New World was discovered, in Europe vodka was made from a variety of starches. Wheat, barley, grapes, and root vegetables were all used. Wheat was the most common. Once available, the potato quickly became popular.
When we set out on our journey for the perfect vodka, we did comparison tastings between the most commonly available mashes. In blind tastings, we consistently preferred “New World” corn distillate over all others.
When compared with the bitter tones of potato and wheat, corn has a natural hint of sweetness. With the perfect starch selected, we located our Midwest distillery right in the middle of cornfields north of Bardstown (ground zero for American distilling.)
We then discovered the process and equipment that allowed the natural sweetness of corn to survive the distilling process, while preventing the many impurities and “medicinal” flavors often found in other vodkas.
Corn has the added benefit of being naturally free of gluten. “Perfectly distilled” vodka starts with the perfect grain. American Corn.
WATER MATTERS
Ultra-premium vodka requires superior water. There are no secrets. There are no shortcuts.
You cannot have great vodka without a superior source of water.
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Mineral Content (Electrolytes) and PH balancing are the foundation of great tasting water.
Viktor Fükhov Vodka carefully produces water that shares the attributes of the finest tasting waters of the world. Our water is purified and micro filtered.
Electrolytes and minerals are then added to create one of the best tasting waters available anywhere.
